Ahmad Hasaballah

Ahmad spent 192 days covering the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, where he was born and raised, working in immensely challenging conditions. In those six months, he was displaced several times, first from his home in Gaza City and then from Khan Yunis to Rafah, where he had to seek shelter in a tent outside a hospital. He was confronted daily with the brutal toll of war, photographing the dead and wounded, and widespread destruction of homes and businesses. Throughout this period of personal difficulty and loss, he showed unflagging dedication to documenting these historic events, while navigating countless logistical challenges to share these images with the world. We commend Ahmad on this work and are grateful for his collaboration with Getty Images during this time.
