“This portfolio brought a range of emotions and compositions to the table to illustrate another big year in U.S. politics. 2023 brought protests, the beginning of election season, a former President on trial, and House and Senate coverage that was anything but routine. This photographer brought a sense of levity and humor to events inside the beltway, along with the deliberations and weight carried by those in office. Their eye for details outside of event coverage elevated their images and made it our favorite of the entries.”
